DIY Deep Conditioning Hair Mask Using Shea Butter & Flaxseed Oil

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons shea butter
  • 1 tablespoon flaxseed oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 5 drops of your favorite essential oil (optional for fragrance)

Instructions:

  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the shea butter in short intervals until it becomes soft and easily mixable. You can also use the double boiler method to melt your shea butter.
  2. Add the flaxseed oil and honey to the melted shea butter. Mix well until all the ingredients are combined.
  3. If desired, add a few drops of your preferred essential oil for a pleasant fragrance. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Let the mixture cool down to room temperature. This will allow the mask to solidify and become easier to apply.
  5. Once the mixture has cooled and solidified, use a hand mixer to whip it until it becomes creamy and smooth.
  6. Transfer the hair mask into a clean, airtight container for storage.

To Use:

  1. Start with clean, damp hair.
  2. Take a small amount of the DIY hair mask and warm it up between your palms.
  3. Apply the mask generously to your hair, focusing on the mid-lengths to ends. Make sure to distribute it evenly.
  4. Gently massage the mask into your scalp for added nourishment.
  5. Once applied, cover your hair with a shower cap or wrap it in a warm towel to create a heat-activated conditioning treatment.
  6. Leave the mask on for at least 30 minutes.
  7. After the desired duration, rinse out the mask thoroughly with warm water.
  8. Shampoo and condition your hair as usual.
Since this recipe doesn’t have any preservatives, use dry, clean hands and sore the hair mask in a cool, dry place and use it within a few weeks. Enjoy the benefits of this deep conditioning treatment, which can help nourish and hydrate your hair, leaving it soft, shiny, and more manageable.
