Benefits of Unrefined Shea Butter For The Skin

Shea butter is a fat extracted from the nut of the African shea tree. The English word “shea” comes from the tree’s name in Bambara. Shea butter is a complex fat that contains fatty acids such as oleic acid and stearic acid, Vitamins A, D, E, & F that provide nutrients and antioxidants.

Shea Butter is an excellent moisturizer for the face and body because it locks in moisture in the skin and keeps it hydrated. It can help reduce skin inflammation such as itchy skin, minor sunburns, cuts and scrapes that can result in swelling. Vitamin A & E found in the butter keep the skin supple, nourished and restore the elasticity of the skin. Shea butter can reduce razor irritation and bumps after shaving as it moisturizes and soothes irritated skin.

Along with cocoa butter, unrefined shea butter is often used for stretch marks. Shea butter can help to restore the elasticity of the skin and improve collagen production.
